Meadow Cottage – A Cosy Welsh Cottage in a Peaceful Valley

Nestling in a beautiful valley surrounded by wooded hills, fields and countryside, Meadow Cottage is a welcoming, cosy two-bedroom retreat, lovingly recreated from the ruins of an old Welsh longhouse. Set within our 200-acre farmland estate, it's the perfect place to escape the pressures of everyday life and enjoy a relaxing break in beautiful rural surroundings.

As you approach along the narrow country lane, you'll soon find yourself immersed in the peace and tranquillity of this special location. With its pretty garden, secluded setting and patio for al fresco dining, Meadow Cottage is an ideal place to unwind, reconnect with nature and simply enjoy doing nothing.

The cottage sleeps up to four guests and is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and memorable stay.

A Cottage with a History

Meadow Cottage has an interesting history. The original Welsh longhouse had collapsed many years before we acquired it. All that remained were the intact livestock end of the building and part of the wall containing the original fireplace.

We decided to breathe new life into the ruins, reusing as much of the original stone lying nearby as possible. In 1999, Meadow Cottage was reborn, retaining a sense of its traditional Welsh heritage while providing all the comforts of a modern holiday home.

Lounge

The cosy lounge has windows overlooking both the front and rear gardens, bringing the surrounding countryside into the heart of the cottage.

With two comfortable sofas and an armchair, there's plenty of room to relax. On chilly evenings, light the log-burning stove, settle down with a good book or enjoy a cosy night in.

Kitchen & Dining

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need, whether you're preparing a simple snack or cooking a more elaborate meal.

We provide tea towels, dishcloths and cleaning products, so you can settle in and feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Bedrooms

Meadow Cottage sleeps up to four guests in two comfortable bedrooms, with a choice of sleeping arrangements to suit couples, families or friends.

- Double Bedroom: A spacious first-floor bedroom with a comfortable king-size pine bed, beautifully dressed with fresh, colour-coordinated linen, soft duvets and pillows. There's plenty of storage, including a wardrobe, chest of drawers and a walk-in eaves cupboard. The room also has a dressing table, hairdryer and a charming boudoir chair.

- Twin Bedroom: Situated on the ground floor, this bedroom has two comfortable 3-foot single beds, each with a bedside cabinet and reading light. There's also a matching tallboy providing drawer space and hanging storage.

Bathroom

Adjacent to the upstairs double bedroom, the bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower, basin and WC.

A warm airing cupboard is ideal for keeping towels cosy, and we provide soft towels, individually wrapped scented soap and a starter pack of four toilet rolls.

Laundry Room

A few steps down from the hallway, you'll find a separate laundry room equipped with a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board, and a clothes airer.

For guests bringing their four-legged friends, we've also provided some old towels for drying off wet dogs after a countryside walk.

Garden & Patio

The pretty garden is surrounded by fields and woodland, creating a lovely sense of privacy and seclusion.

The patio is the perfect spot for an al fresco meal, a morning coffee or simply sitting back and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Whether you're soaking up the sunshine or relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening, it's a wonderful place to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

A Peaceful Rural Retreat

One of the real pleasures of staying at Meadow Cottage is the tranquillity of its surroundings.

At night, the countryside falls almost completely silent, with perhaps an owl hooting in the distance or the wind rustling through the trees. With very little light pollution, the night sky is beautifully dark, revealing the moon and stars in all their glory.

It's a wonderful escape from the noise and bustle of town and city life, offering the chance to slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy a truly restful night's sleep.

We're Martin and Karen, and we look forward to welcoming you to Meadow Cottage.

To help you settle in, we provide a complimentary welcome tray of tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks.

Our own home is a few hundred metres away along the farm track, so we're close enough to help if needed, while allowing you to enjoy the peace and privacy of your own cottage.

We look after Meadow Cottage with the help of our co-host, Aysha, and our groundsman, Andy.
